Jazmin Sawyers and Scott Lincoln to captain Team England athletics and para athletics Commonwealth Games team

The track and field action at the Commonwealth Games 2026 gets underway on Monday 27 July at the Scotstoun stadium, and we’re delighted to share that Jazmin Sawyers (City of Stoke, Aston Moore) and Scott Lincoln (City of York, Dale Stevenson) will be leading the way as team captains of Team England.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the captaincy, Jazmin will be returning to Glasgow after her silver medal in the long jump at the 2014 Games.

Speaking on her captaincy, Jazmin said:

“Being voted captain along with Scott for this England team is an incredible honour - having competed in my first games in Glasgow it feels so special to be returning 12 years later with an extra role.

“I have great faith in this team to bring their best - we will see champions and medals but also personal bests by athletes the world is just meeting for the first time. Here is where my own career really got started and I can’t wait to see the beginnings of many more for this group of athletes. The Commonwealth Games is a unique opportunity for para and able-bodied athletes to share a team, and I couldn’t be more proud to have been chosen to represent us all together in Glasgow.”

Jazmin will be accompanied by co-captain Scott Lincoln. Having won over 20 British shot put titles, Scott will be heading to Glasgow with his sights set on the medals after taking home the bronze at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Speaking on his excitement for the opportunity, Scott added:

“I’m super thrilled to be joining this team as captain, what an honour at such a prestigious event to be named to lead the group into competition. Excited for what this team and games have in store for Team England. One thing is for sure, I'll be wearing this lion on my chest with pride!”

Athletics and para athletics Team Leader for Team England, Scott Grace, who is also England Athletics' National Coach Development Manager, said:

“I am super excited to announce Jazmin and Scott as our team captains for the Commonwealth Games. Not only do they bring a wealth of experience in their personal events but also from Commonwealth Games, Olympic, World and European teams. Their insight and enthusiasm will be fantastic example for the rest of the team and I am looking forward to the first events beginning.”
