England Athletics is delighted to announce the first athletes joining Team England for this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

This first phase of the team announcement will include 20 para athletes - with many making their Commonwealth Games debut. Amongst the 20 athletes selected, we have had the privilege of welcoming many onto England Athletics teams over the last couple of years with seven athletes currently receiving support through out Talent Pathway and Para Academy.

The athletics action will kick off on Monday 27th July, with the final medals awarded on Saturday 1 August.

A fantastic mix of experience

Dan Greaves will be returning for his third Games, 12 years after winning gold at Glasgow 2014. Joining Dan will be Birmingham 2022 champion, Nathan Maguire and medallists Sophie Hahn, Zac Shaw and Daniel Sidbury. Amongst this crop of incredible Commonwealth Games medallists, will be former Paralympic champion, Thomas Young, and Paris 2024 Paralympic medallists Didi Okoh and Ali Fewins.

Taking to the senior Commonwealth Games stage for the first time will be 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games medallists Maddie Down and Bebe Jackson.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming Games, Team Leader Scott Grace said:

"It is fantastic to welcome the first athletes to the team ahead of what will be an exciting summer in Glasgow. The athletes and their personal coaches have all been working hard across last year and the winter to secure their spot. The team is made up of athletes with such a wide breadth of experience and it is wonderful to welcome those athletes from our Para Academy and Talent Pathway who will be attending their very first multi-sport games.

"I would like to extend my congratulations to the athletes' clubs, personal coaches, and families as their dedication and support has had a huge contribution on the athlete's journey so far and will continue to throughout the Games in Glasgow."
