Fantastic performances for England's race walkers in Spain
A relatively new event on the calendar, the Madrid Marcha has become the stage for exceptional racers, attracting some of the best race walkers from all over the world – including Olympic, World, and continental champions.
The England team had varying levels of experience: for some it was their England debut, and others were aiming for championship qualification. All the athletes performed fantastically in incredibly hot conditions and learnt a lot from the experience.
Athlete Abigail Jennings told us:
"It is a great opportunity to race at a high profile course, with many fans spectating. The weather conditions hindered my times a bit, but regardless, it is a fantastic opportunity to put on an England vest."
Honey-Mae Davies added:
"It was an exciting experience and the atmosphere was fantastic."
