England victorious at the Reykjavik International Games

A small but mighty team of eight talent pathway athletes travelled to Iceland to represent England at the 2025 Reykjavik International Games.

The Reykjavik Games is a multi-Sport Competition, with Athletics headlining as one of the main events. The competition attracts the best of talent from Iceland, especially so this year with an Icelandic Indoor record broken in the men’s 1500m.

There were some outstanding performances from the English contingent with five first place positions, and all of the team making podiums in their events.

Opening his indoor season, William Rabjohns said:

"It was so much fun, and the event was so good. It was my first indoor race and so it was a really nice experience to be a part of the team"

Team Leader, Vicky Griffiths, commented:

“A huge congratulations to all athletes, their personal coaches and support teams. The strength of these performances has provided the athletes with huge confidence as they finalise their preparations for upcoming England Age Group Championships, BUCS and British Championships. A big thank you to the fantastic staff who supported the athletes during the trip – Shani Palmer (speed coach), Hayley Hemmings (endurance coach) and Stuart Butler (physio)”

  • Molly Palmer (Thames Valley Harriers, Lukasz Zawila) – Long Jump Women 1st – 6.47
  • Arabella Wilson (Winchester, Andrew Fisher) – 400m Women 3rd – 55.64
  • Oliver Parker (Rugby and Northampton AC, James Wright) 400m Men 2nd - 49.58
  • Eleanor Strevens (Eastbourne Rovers, Chris Voice) 1500m Women 1st – 4.19.21
  • William Rabjohns (Poole AC, Mark Pauley) 1500m Men 3rd – 3:48.03

Senior Programme athlete Thomas Bridger also competed in the men’s 1500m placing 2nd in 3:40.15.
