England Athletics and UKA launch new competition finder

England Athletics, together with UK Athletics, have launched a new online ‘competition finder’ to make it easier for athletes, coaches, and officials to find their perfect event.

Users can search the comprehensive listing of events in England using multiple filters, such as location, type of event, or level of licence, to discover the ideal competition to suit their needs. The online tool also provides the ability to search for upcoming competitions which have yet to be licensed as well as find which events have World Athletics ranking points.

Competition providers will be able to use the resource to plan their own events and avoid clashes, locally, meaning better coordination of the event calendar for all.

Nichola Skedgel, Competition Partnerships and Innovations Manager at England Athletics: said:

“When I started working in this role at England Athletics in April 2020, at that time there was the Covid-19 pandemic meaning no competitions were able to take place. But when I spoke to people within the sport to find out where they looked for competition there was no ‘one stop shop’ to search. In 2021 and 2022 we published a simple spreadsheet on the England Athletics website to fill this void.

“It’s been a mission of mine to get an online competition finder, so I am delighted that together with UK Athletics we finally have one and am hopeful this will make a big difference to our athletes searching for appropriate competition opportunities.”

“The data online is only as good as the data entered into the licensing system, so we ask please that if competition providers have live streaming, online results, web pages, that they add these details to the licence application so we can pull this information through to share with the wider sport.”
