England Athletics 2026 indoor championship entry standards published
Year on year we are seeing popularity in the England Athletics grow, which is fantastic, but it has meant that in 2024 and 2025 the 8-hour competition day was exceeded.
As part of the licensing stipulations track and field competitions must be carried out within an 8 hour day, and so to ensure all our indoor championships adhere to this we have had to amend our entry policy, implementing capped numbers for the indoors.
This was already in place for Combined Events Championships. This new policy has been implemented to ensure the best possible competitive environment for athletes.
Process
Athletes will need to have achieved the entry standard, but approval will not be automatic or immediate as in previous years. In 2026, entries will be approved AFTER the closing date. We will accept the athletes based on top performances on Power of 10 at the time of entries closing. We will start reviewing entries as soon as the window has closed, to make sure we confirm entries as soon as possible allowing as much time as possible for families to coordinate logistics.
The priority window of a one-week period prior to general entry will still apply. This will be an invitation only to the top ranked English athletes.
