England Athletics recognises that members are currently compromised on what they can do in regard to both training and competition and we are committed to facilitating a return to competition as quickly and safely as possible. Whilst we appreciate there will be widespread challenges in areas such as venues or potentially officiating, having conversations ahead of the return to competition and highlighting these challenges is vital.

In the video update, Martin and Nichola explain how England Athletics is already working with British Athletics and the other Home Country Athletics Federations on multi-scenario plans to enable a return to competition in 2021. We are utilising the learnings and experience from the successful implementation of a restricted outdoor track and field season in 2020 (300 competitions and 40,000 athlete performances) that was supported by funding grants from England Athletics. We are working hard on our plans, and liaising directly with Sport England and DCMS, to seek an early and quick return to athletics competition in England.

England Athletics will be speaking to competition providers in order to gain a full understanding of their aims, and challenges, so we can offer support in the most effective way. These discussions will not only help us formulate a funding plan for 2021 but will also be essential in shaping future planning that will ensure a positive competition landscape that offers a great experience and supports our athletes at all levels.

We would like to thank all competition providers for once again rising to the challenge and planning competitions in testing, uncertain times.
