Competition Conference 2025 - bringing competition and race organisers together
England Athletics held its annual Competition Conference on Sunday 29 November 2025, bringing together competition and race organisers to learn, connect and share best practice.
The day included guest speakers from across the sport, sharing expertise and their own experiences of running successful, athlete-first competitions.
The conference saw key speakers including England Athletics Board member Clive Poyner, Facilities & Planning Manager Ed Hunt, and BI Analyst Darren John.
Updates were provided on topics such as facilities, officials, field events, national participation data, and funetics Multi-Challenge - our exciting new competition format which aims to encourage more regular, age-appropriate opportunities for primary school aged children to compete in athletics.
You can now watch back any of the talks:
- Facilities update
- Officials update
- Field events update
- funetics Multi-Challenge update
- State of the Nation - data update
We would like to thank all who attended, with a special thank you to all of our speakers.

England Athletics Head of Competition and Partnerships, Nichola Skedgel, said:
"The England Athletics Competition Conference is a true catalyst for progress. It brings together inspiring voices to tackle the sport’s biggest challenges and set clear priorities for the future.
"What makes it special is the spirit of collaboration, everyone working together like one big team to elevate athletics across the country. It’s a pleasure to organise and be part of such an energising and united event."
