Chafe-free Runderwear™ gets the thumbs up from England Masters Marathon Runners

The team at Runderwear (who are all runners) recently decided to put this ethos to the test and as the Official Bra and Underwear Partner of England Athletics, invited all female England Age Group Representative athletes competing at the Asda Foundation Yorkshire Marathon 2019 to road test some of their products.

In total, 30 athletes received products to trial, providing invaluable feedback to the product team at Runderwear. The products proved overwhelmingly popular amongst athletes with 28 out of 30 stating that they would recommend the Runderbra to a friend and 28 out of 30 who would recommend the underwear (the other 2 athletes preferring to run commando!). Over 65% of athletes were trying Runderwear products for the first time.

Kate Owens (Crawley AC) who finished the Asda Foundation Yorkshire Marathon 2019 third overall in the women’s race as well as winner of her F35 age group category with a lifetime best of 2:55:14 was one of the athletes who took the opportunity to try the Runderwear products for the first time. She said; “I absolutely love the Runderbra. The bra is a nice flattering design, not frumpy like sports bras usually are.”

Runderwear Co-Founder and CEO Richard Edmonds joined the England Athletics Masters Marathon team before the start of the race for an opportunity to meet and greet a few of the athletes who had tested the products. He had this to say, "It was fantastic to meet some of the Women’s Masters team at Yorkshire and to receive their feedback on our range of running bras. Advice when choosing a sports bra

With the imminent launch of the new Easy-On Support Bra which will significantly expand the Runderbra range - making it available in sizes ranging from 28A to 40H - Runderwear has the following advice when choosing a sports bra;

Women should always look for:

• Breathable moisture-wicking fabric
• Label-free and concealed-seam design to prevent rubbing
• Adjustable padded straps for comfort and to allow customisation of fit for different body shapes and statures
• Encased elasticated underband - this is where most of the support comes from in a bra

For high impact activity, such as running, the support aspect of the bra is even more important, particularly if you have larger breasts; Women should look for:

• Moulded cups to encapsulate and compartmentalise each breast, controlling movement across all three planes of the body (up and down, in and out and side to side)
• High neckline to ensure breast tissue is fully encased within the cups in order to minimise upward bounce
• Wide underband (as well as being soft and elasticated – as stated above - the band should be wider in a high impact bra to ensure additional support)

Thereafter it is just a case of preference for certain features that different women might have.  The Easy-On Support Runderbra by Runderwear for example, has all the afore-mentioned features as well as a fully opening back feature with double adjustable hook-eye closures, making it easy to get on and off.
