Brand new England Athletics Talent Pathway cohorts announced

We are delighted to share the names of the athletes and coaches who have been selected on to our Para Academy, Youth Talent Programme (YTP), Talent Development Programme (TDP) and Performance Programme (PP).

New programme structure

Brand new for 2025, the Talent Pathway will feature two new programmes, the Talent Development Programme and the Performance Programme. These will replace the Junior Talent and Senior Programmes of recent years. The Talent Pathway is fully inclusive, however the Para Academy offers athletes the additional opportunity to train alongside athletes from within their classification and receive support dedicated to their disability.

Youth Talent Programme

The YTP is the athletes’ first introduction to the England Athletics Talent Pathway and incorporates the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE). The diploma looks to support athletes in developing skills and knowledge that will support their development throughout their career, as well as providing them with UCAS points as they make their university applications.

Talent Development Programme

The Talent Development Programme bridges the gap and offers athletes support via the Talent Hub network. Together, Talent Hub and England Athletics staff support the athlete and their personal coach in making best use of the services and support available. Athletes are expected to be able to show the ability to compete for England or Great Britain at international age group level.

Performance Programme

The Performance Programme is designed to support athletes who could medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games or compete for Great Britain at a senior level.

Para Academy

The Para Academy supports English para athletes who have displayed potential for future selection to Great Britain senior teams and Team England at the Commonwealth Games.

Head of the Talent Programmes, Alan Richardson, commented:

"We are delighted to welcome a new cohort of athletes on the England Athletics Talent Pathway. Our talent programmes are key in supporting young developing talented athletes and para athletes. We are both proud and confident that those athletes who we are able to support will progress to compete on major stages over the coming years. England Athletics has embraced the relationship with the Talent Hub network and believe these sites are key to supporting athletes in England with the very best in coaching along with key support services at each site."

With the Commonwealth Games fast approaching in 2026, the Talent Pathway will provide a key springboard in athletes' preparations. Athletics Team Leader for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Scott Grace, added:

"Congratulations to all the athletes who have been selected on the England Athletics Talent Programmes. As we approach next year’s Commonwealth Games, the support offered through these programmes and our Talent Hub network will be crucial in helping ensure we have the strongest and best prepared team to excel at the Games. Looking at all those involved in the programme, it is very exciting to see so much talent across all the event groups. I wish you all the best of luck with your coming season, and your aspirations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, European Champs and more."
