Athletics Pride Network (APN) setting future ambitions
As this year's Pride Month draws to a close, the Athletics Pride Network (APN) have been busy, coming together to celebrate and realise the value of the APN in providing an environment to express yourself as a LGBTQ+ person in sport. The network have also been supporting England Athletics and other Home Country Athletics Federations to drive awareness and education to enable positive experiences for the LGBTQ+ community within our sport.
At the start of Pride Month, the APN, supported by England Athletics, attended the Sport & Recreation Alliance’s Sporting Queer photo exhibition, which celebrated the diversity of LGBTQ+ representation across all sport. Visibility is a key component for harnessing an inclusive sport and building a sense of belonging, so we will be sharing stories from the APN members, to open up conversations and inspire and support other athletes, coaches and officials.
With the support of the APN we are excited to increase the visibility of the network at our championships and improve the accessibility for clubs, coaches and officials to access education and support to better support LGBTQ+ people.
