Taking place this Friday and Saturday 12-13 July, England Athletics are proud supporters of this special event that brings today's exceptional young talent together; the future stars of our sport.
The weekend's events will showcase some of the best athletes in each county in England, competing for the honour and title of best athlete in the country, in their event and age group. Entry to the event is by virtue of athletes being selected by County Team Managers to represent their County.
Nearly all the British Olympic Athletics team members have featured in the ESAA Championships, many of which have gone on to win individual Olympic and World Championship medals including multiple gold medallists Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Kelly Holmes and Greg Rutherford, to name-drop a few!
Chris Jones, England Athletics CEO, said: "We have supported the revered English Schools' Track and Field Championships for more than a decade now and it is a partnership that we are particularly proud of, a competition that is the envy of school sport across the globe. For many decades we have seen the aspiring senior champions of tomorrow take their formative steps towards senior success at these championships. Whilst of course this is only a progression step on the way to future glory, these championships also play a key role in participation and retention, in terms of inspiring and retaining young athletes to continue to participate and progress in track and field. Clubs, coaches, volunteers and competition providers play a key role in ensuring that the experience for our budding hopefuls is an enjoyable one and one that will keep them coming back for many more years to come."
It is an event that young athletes aspire to, giving them a fierce competitive flavour of all that can come, if they continue to work hard and progress in their chosen discipline. A great sporting show that you can be part of, support and spectate… more details of the how, what, when and where below:
