Add the Find a Guide widget to your website - and win!

Add our ‘Find a Guide’ runner widget to your website… and be in with a chance to WIN tickets to Manchester International!

England Athletics and British Blind Sport have joined forces to get more people running and enjoying our sport. Running is a great way to get fit, enjoy the outdoors and meet other people and our inclusion philosophy is that everyone should be able to lace up and run. We’ve created a tool that enables visually impaired people to find and pair-up with guide runners to run with in their local area, searching by postcode. We’re asking and encouraging all our partners, contacts and clubs to get on-board and show their support for growing our sport and promoting inclusivity, by adding this tool to their website.

The techy tool we have created is a widget for websites. What’s a widget we hear you say?

A web widget is a web application that is embedded as an element on a host website / web page. That provides users of the host page access to resources from another web site, which in this case is the ‘Find a Guide’ postcode search box. Click here to look at the widget / example on the British Blind Sport website. It’s code that you add to your website, which is straightforward to do.

Liz Purbrick, England Athletics Inclusion Manager, said:

‘We have over 550 guide runners ready, waiting and wanting to buddy-up with visually impaired people. Our guide runners are a friendly and bubbly bunch who have all attended a Sight Loss Awareness and Guide Running workshop, are DBS checked, and most importantly are passionate about running and wanting to help and support others to share their passion.

‘These avid runners are ready and raring to get their running shoes on; we need to get the message out there and the widget on websites and shared far and wide to connect as many people as possible.’
