Moyo Stumpenhusen at Pickering Throws

The UK's best and most inclusive pathway throws competition. We are proud to be supporting the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund and Personal Best Foundation as our Official Charity Partners.

Following a successful 2025 event, the date for 2026 is confirmed as Sunday 31 May and will take place at Paula Radcliffe Athletics Track, Loughborough University, LE11 3TU .

We hope to include seated throws in future iterations of the event. We are also looking at potentially including long jump and high jump, please let us know if this is something you’d like to send athletes to compete in.

This is a closed competition to selected athletes only. England team athletes will be up against throwers from other nations - in the past these have included Switzerland, Sweden and Italy.

Heritage

In 2024 we displayed a Celebrating Shaun exhibit in the Athletics Pavilion, and in 2025 we focussed on Geoff Capes and 2026 we will celebrate Jean Pickering who was a European and Commonwealth long jump medallist.
All the memories and celebrations on the day are preserved on The Athletics Museum website.
