Winter Long Throws 2026

The winter long throws championships provide a competitive opportunity for U16 to senior athletes in the discus, hammer, javelin, ambulant discus and ambulant javelin. We have added seated shot this year to support those on the Commonwealth Games long list and Home Country talent programmes.

New even age groups will be used and U23 athletes will compete as seniors. The events are UKA Level 2, and ratified by World Para Athletics and World Athletics.

The entry standards for the regional and national competitions are available at the bottom of this page.

Please note that due to the updates to the Power of 10 platform, athletes will be able to register for the National Winter Long Throws, but entries will not be formally accepted until Power of 10 returns in full.

UK and England Athletics National Winter Long Throws Championships

Entries to the nationals will be prioritised for those who are targeting major championships and the Commonwealth Games this year, across each of the age groups. The priority athletes will be from across each of the different home countries. Those on championship selection long lists do not have to complete the regional competition to qualify for the national level, but may do so to work on their form at this early stage in the season.

To be considered for the Nationals, if you are not on the invited athletes list you need to have registered your interest on Roster.
