Anglo Celtic Plate 100k Home International: team selection

England Athletics are delighted to announce a strong team of eight athletes to compete at the Anglo Celtic Plate 100k on 16 May 16 2020.

The Anglo Celtic Plate 100k Home International plays an important role in developing athletes at distances beyond the Marathon and England Athletics will once again be sending a team to this year’s event which takes place on home turf, at Boddington in Gloucestershire.

Team

Women:

  • Valeria Sesto (New Forest Runners)

Men:

  • Ollie Garrod (South London)
  • Alex Milne (Hercules Wimbledon)
  • Andrew Siggers (Kenilworth Runners)

Support Team:

  • Team Leader: Darren Reevell (Pocklington)
  • Team Coach: Michelle Maxwell (Chippenham)

The women’s team includes experienced ultra-runner and former Anglo Celtic Plater winner Samantha Amend (Belgrave, Norman Wilson). Samantha is selected following a fine performance at Seville Marathon in 2019 and a 21st place finish at Comrades Marathon. Eve Bugler is selected after a 2:51:53 performance at the London Marathon and a fine run at the Cappadocia Ultra Trail World Tour 63km. Bugler is an experienced ultra runner who finished 16th at Comrades Marathon in 2015. Johanna O’Regan (Riverside) is selected with a view to her potential in ultra-distance running. The England international ran five marathons in 2019 with a best of 2:42:15 to finish 3rd at the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon. Valeria Sesto (New Forest Runners) is another experienced ultra runner with a 100k best of 8:05:39 in finishing 17th in the IAU World 100k Champs in 2018. Sesto is selected after running 3:00:13 at the Brighton Marathon in 2019.

The men’s team sees Michael Taylor (Riverside/Royal Air Force, Alan Turnbull) rewarded after breaking the course record at Barry 40 with 3:53:04. Michael is selected after a 2:25:12 run at the 2019 London Marathon, plus he holds the RAF Ironman record at 8hrs 51 and clocked the fastest RAF time at Kona in 2019.  Ollie Garrod (South London) achieves selection after a 5th place finish at the 2019 ACP100k and winning the Gloucester 50km in 2:57:58 earlier this year. The South London man was a 2nd placed finisher at the 2019 Edingburgh Marathon. Alex Milne (Hercules Wimbledon) is selection also with a view to his potential over longer distances. Alex is currently ranked 6th on the UK all time rankings after this 2:56:20 and 15th place at the IAU World 50km Championships last year, and he ran 2:20:08 at the Virgin Money London Marathon in 2019. Andrew Siggers (Kenilworth Runners) was a 2nd place finisher at both the recent Barry 40 (4:05:44) and Gloucester 50km (3:01:25) races. Andrew was an 8th place finisher at the 2019 ACP 100k and he ran a PB of 2:26:36 at Frankfurt Marathon in October.
