2021 Antrim Coast Half marathon: Team selected

England Athletics are committed to providing opportunities for athletes to represent England on the road as COVD-19 restrictions ease. We are, therefore, delighted to announce the team selected to compete at the 2021 Antrim Coast Half Marathon. Team selections are based on expressions of interest from athletes who meet the standards within the relevant selection policy, with a focus on current form.

Road Running Manager Tom Craggs said,

"We are delighted to be able to offer athletes the chance to gain more international experience in a race with a high-quality field, giving the opportunity for fast times. Congratulations to the selected athletes and their coaches."

Women

  • Rose Harvey (Clapham Chasers, Phil Kissi)
  • Georgina Schwiening (Cambridge Runners, self-coached)
  • Sophie Wood (Sale Harriers, self-coached)
  • Kirsty Longley (Liverpool Pembroke Sefton)

Men

  • Mahamed Mahamed (Southampton AC, Idris Hamud)
  • Nigel Martin (Sale Harriers, Norman Poole)
  • Josh Grace (AFD, Geoff Watkin)
  • Daniel Connolly (Mercia Fell)

Rose Harvey is selected for her first national representative vest after her fantastic 2:30:58 Commonwealth Games standard from the Cheshire Marathon this year. She is joined by Georgina Schwiening who has been in fine form this season running 33:36 over 10km and winning the Peterborough Marathon in May. Sophie Wood has made significant progress in the last two years and is selected after running 75:35 at the Tatton Half this year. Kirsty Longley was fifth at last year's race and is selected after finishing second at Cheshire Elite Half Marathon this year.

Intercounties XC Champion Mahamed Mahamed is the fourth fastest GB Under-23 all-time over 10 miles and is selected to run his first half marathon after running 28:26 at the Müller British Athletics 10,000m Championships. He is joined by in-form Nigel Martin who ran 28:58 for 10,000m in June and finished 10th in the Olympic Marathon Trial at Kew in March. Josh Grace was a 12th placed finisher at Antrim last year and achieves selection after his 29:30 Müller British Athletics 10,000m Championships. Daniel Connolly is selected for his first national representative vest after running 65:37 for 3rd at the Cheshire Elite Half Marathon in April.

Mo Farah and Lily Partridge took the victories in the 2020 race which takes place on the flat, fast and beautiful Antrim coast.
