London Regional Council chair Adrian Day explains the importance of ensuring representation across the governance structures of athletics at grassroots.
Jemma Arbon, East Midlands Regional Councillor, explains why she got involved with the Regional Council; how she wanted more than just leading and coaching.
Stuart Horsewood talks about his life in athletics and how it has helped him to positively shape the future of athletics and running across his community and beyond.
The regional council elections decided who would represent the views of the sport at the grassroots. In total, across the nine England Athletics’ regions there were 36 seats up for election.
How does the election process work?
Anyone who wished to stand as a regional councillor in one of the nine regions needed to submit their nomination between 23 January and 24 February.
If the number of candidates matched the number of vacant seats in a region, then those candidates were elected automatically onto that regional council once the nomination process had ended.
If the number of candidates exceeded the number of vacant seats in a region, then affiliated clubs and members in that region selected their preferred candidate[s].
Any ballots took place between 6 and 27 March.
