BASC bursaries available for coaches and officials

The British Athletics Supporters' Club (BASC) is looking to assist Coaches and Officials with bursaries. BASC will award sums of up to £250 to successful applicants who wish to pursue higher standards. This might possibly, but not exclusively, involve attending a qualification course run by UK Athletics, England Athletics or similar organisations.

Commonwealth Youth Games team - ready, jet, go!

Our Commonwealth Youth Games team are jetting off to the Bahamas on Sunday morning to join young athletes from 70 nations and territories to compete in the first Commonwealth Games event to be held in the Caribbean for over 50 years and the sixth Commonwealth Youth Games event. We wish them all the best and will follow the action over the coming fortnight.

Athletics Coach Pilot Courses

These Pilot Courses are part of the updated Athletics Coach qualification currently being developed by UKA. Places are now available on these pilot courses which include elective content on Day 3 where candidates can choose between Speed, Throws, Jumps or Endurance. Day 4 assessments will also focus on the selected event group.

Burton AC providing opportunities for new officials

England Athletics, funded by Spirit of 2012 are encouraging clubs to host either a Volunteering Open Day or Officials Taster Session as a way of inspiring more people to volunteer within the club. Burton Athletics Club are one of the clubs who will be delivering an Officials Taster Session on a club night, followed by a Level 1 officiating course at the end of the month.

It is now our 10th year of volunteer awards! That's 10 years of celebrating the outstanding contribution the volunteers across England give, to make our sport happen. There are so many fantastic officials across England, who regularly commit their time to Athletics and Running. This is your opportunity to recognise these everyday heroes!
