Former world-champion athlete Colin Jackson has launched his second annual Sanlam Go Dad Run charity 5k and 10k for men and boys. Colin, fellow athlete Jamie Baulch and local footballing legend Kevin Ball will set the runners off in Sunderland and then put medals round their necks when they cross the finish line. Other Go Dad Runs will take place in cities across the country throughout 2017.

In June 2016 Gail Craig - an employee at County Hall in Durham - took advantage of the Workplace Challenge programme and set up a beginners' running group programme through support from England Athletics, County Durham Sport and Durham County Council. 6 months on and there are almost 50 people involved.
