England Athletics has nine Regional Councils. Each has responsibility for representing the volunteer interests of the sport, supporting the staff in their area and giving input into investment. The council is also working towards developing strong links with key partners such as County Athletics Development Groups, Sport England, Private Sector Business and other agencies. There are also a number of focus groups in the region who work to develop specific areas such as coaching, officials, road running etc – these groups are made up of key individuals plus representatives from each county in the region.

Keith has served on the SW Council as both a co-opted member and and elected member. He is a club secretary, coach and National technical official. He has been representing the SW council on the tri regional officials group for a number of years, and has tried to develop opportunities for SW officials in that time.

Mo is a former teacher of physical education and present secretary & team manager for Cornwall Schools. She has worked as a community athletics coach for the County Sports Partnership and is a level 4 coach of heavy throws and member of the National Coach Development Programme. Mo was a co-opted member of the SW Athletics Council with portfolios for Education & Athletic Networks and in 2015 became an elected member, holding the portfolio for coaching.

Tony has been an active competitor on the road running scene for over 30 years and continues to race over distances ranging from 5k to marathons. He is a Run Britain Event Adjudicator, the Vice Chair of South West Road Runners and the Chair of the InStep Devon network. In the latter role, he has been particularly active in developing and supporting RunTogether groups to boost participation in the sport.

David has been involved in local club athletics since 1971 when he joined Yeovil Olympiads (YOAC) as a schoolboy. He was club captain for several years. Running the 400 metres, he won South-West Inter-Counties on three occasions in the 1970s, and was captain of athletics at Bristol University in that period. After a period of road running in Yorkshire during the 1980s, where he was working at the time, he returned to the South-West in 1990. Rejoining YOAC, he achieved some success at the Masters level, achieving fifth place at the 2001 World Championships over 400 metres. From the early nineties, he joined the committee of the Somerset County Athletic Association, and became honorary Secretary of the Association in 2000, still holding that post. He took over the administration of the County website in 2002. He became Championship Secretary for track and field matters in 2004. He was divisional secretary for the South West Athletics League for a number of years.

When Graham retired from running he was already helping my old club through Team Managing, Coaching and Officiating. As well as this he was also a Divisional Secretary in the Southern Men’s League for 20+ years, this also involved in the latter years attending the national fixture meetings. Currently Graham is on the Devon County Committee and one of the Devon XC Team Managers. His roles within North Devon Athletic Club are Vice Chair , Membership Secretary , Team Manager for the Southern Athletic League, and Track Official. Also on the Track Committee and chair of the Trust Committee. He is an assistant coach for the 8-11year olds on a Monday and Thursday evening. Graham was awarded the England Athletics Regional Awards 2016 South West Official of the Year.
