AAA Tom Pink Relays produce quartet of new records

The Tom Pink Relays were held in conjunction with the 2018 England Athletics indoor combined events championships at the EIS on Saturday.

This is the 11th year that the relays have been held at the EIS and it continues to increase in popularity with some club teams travelling considerable distances to attend. More than 250 children in the under 11 and under 13 age groups made the journey and took part in what was an exciting and fun competition.

Cheered on by family and friends the young athletes, many of whom were competing for the first time, rose to the challenge and the standard of the meeting was very high with several new records being set.

  • The under 11 Boys' team from Crewe & Nantwich AC ran a fantastic time of 1 minute 9.9 seconds to set a new record in the Over/Under Relay
  • Lola Unsworth of Stockport Harriers set a new record of 18.5m in the U11 Girls' Soft Javelin,
  • Alfie Carter of Crewe & Nantwich AC set a new record of 7.03m in the U11 Boys' Standing Triple Jump
  • George Reynolds of Amber Valley & Erewash AC set a new record of 87 steps in the U13 Boys' Highland Steps.

Congratulations go to all the new record holders. Click here to find out more about the Tom Pink Relays.
