Thomas Finch

Thomas is as an U20 athlete with Woodford Green AC with Essex Ladies but it is his volunteering activities that his Young Volunteer of the Year recognised last year. At the time of winning Thomas was a Level One qualified Field Official, balancing his competition on league days with volunteering to ensure the club received maximum points for providing the relevant number of officials.

He also started to assist the club coaches, working with some of the younger athletes, in every event you can imagine!

Thomas was afforded the opportunity during 2017 to be a part of the Track 500 Team for both the World Para Athletics Championships and IAAF World Championships. But was this enough for Thomas? No! He also gave up a further 10 days prior to his Track 500 team shifts to assist the technical teams with setting up for the championships.

Since his award win, Thomas has gone on to become a Level 2 Field Judge and demonstrate the immense value a dedicated young person can bring to the Athletics and Running Community. What a star!
