This autumn and winter England Athletics has launched a new series of event specific workshops which see coaches and their athletics coming together for training and development opportunities. These events have been well received by the coaches and athletes with more events planned for early 2018 that you can now book on to.
England Athletics have a series of upcoming Physical Preparation workshops scheduled from January to March 2018 which are designed as a progression for coaches / leaders that have attended England Athletics Movement Skills workshops or are experienced in the delivery of physical preparation training.
A series of events in the South West has been used to see a rising number of people taking part in endurance races on the track. The Duchy Athletics Network was formed in 2009 when four of the largest running and athletics clubs in Cornwall, supported by the Cornwall Sports Partnership, bid for funding to ‘provide a forum for promoting athletics in Cornwall; to engender partnership and participation in the sport and to increase capacity and professionalism of clubs, volunteers and officials’.
A change in government legislation regarding data protection called The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be in place from 25th May 2018. Athletics and running clubs will have to ensure that they are compliant with the new Government regulations. England Athletics has produced guidance for affiliated clubs and associations to help with identifying the key areas that they should be addressing as a result of the additional requirements arising from the upcoming introduction of GDPR.
Endurance workshops looking at specific areas for endurance coaches looking to develop their athletes. This workshop will cover the basic aspects and key areas of use of biomechanics in endurance: movement assessment and analysis, video assessment, hurdle drills, drill sets progressions and programming .Taunton Athletics Track
The step from being a leader to becoming a coach can be a challenge. This workshop will give detailed information on the differences between the roles and the steps leaders will take as they take a coaching qualification. Our conference, funded by Spirit of 2012 and hosted by Donna Fraser will be an interactive day, with opportunity to hear from leading experts, England Athletics staff and volunteers covering topics from how to involve more volunteers, how to develop and progress within your role, through to how to being more resilient or making change happen locally.Birmingham University Great Hall
