Team Spirit Champions bring bigger smiles to the faces of your volunteers

Before Christmas, we held pilot sessions for our brand-new Team Spirit Champions training.  These free, fast-paced, interactive sessions will send you back to your club with plenty of ideas to bring bigger smiles to the faces of the people that make our sport happen: you, the volunteers!  Here is a flavour of what our attendees had to say about it.

Improvements to the Athletics Coach Qualification for 2018

British Athletics, in partnership with the Home Country Athletics Federations, has completed a review of the Coach Qualifications Pathway. As a result, and following pilot courses run last year, an improved Athletics Coach Award is being launched.

This winter England Athletics is delivering a series of workshops available to coaches working at all levels, across all event groups. Many coaches have already attended events and you can get involved to help develop your coaching and help your athletes to get more from the sport.

Team Spirit Champions session (Birmingham)

Team Spirit Champions sessions have been developed by England Athletics to help clubs and groups to create greater experiences for volunteers, make it easier for volunteers to carry out their roles, and easier for new people to get involved.

National coach and athlete workshop - Jumps (Loughborough)

Coach and athlete jumps workshop covering long jump, triple jump, high Jump and pole vault. The workshop format will be based around theory and practical sessions.  These workshops are for event group coaches or (old level 3 and above) and will have theory and practical sessions.

Event Group Coach integration day: Endurance - qualification (Birmingham)

The Event Group Integration Day is the final step in gaining an Event Group Qualification and will pull together much of the content covered within the qualification online modules, through discussion and group work.  Coaches who have completed the Event Group Endurance online course of this qualification should book on to one of these Integration Days.

Regional Coach and Athlete Workshop - Speed (Birmingham)

Covering 100m to 400m, sprint and long hurdles. 1.5 hour theory session on managing athletes in a training environment then a 1.5 hour practical session - with event specialist to identify key principles to add value and context to your coaching.

Physical Preparation - mobility, movement and performance (Birmingham)

Focussing on how athletes can improve mobility, movement and therefore athletic performance, this workshop builds on the content in the England Athletics Movement Skills workshop. This workshop looks at movement assessment and interventions including use of foam rollers, hurdle mobility and coordination drills and strength training progressions.
