Safeguarding module

The purpose of the Safeguarding self-taught module is to enhance the understanding of what safeguarding is and how the role as an official can be important to ensuring a safe environment for everyone involved in athletics. This module is required to be completed to become a licenced official (for individuals 16 years of age or over) and completed for renewing your officials licence every 3 years.

Health and Safety module

This purpose of the Health and Safety self-taught module is to enhance understanding and awareness at athletics events in the role as an Official. This module is required to be completed to become a licensed Official (for individuals 16 years of age or over).

Course outcomes

  • Be prepared to operate safely as athlete, coach or official
  • Know who is responsible for health and safety at events and during training sessions
  • Understand the difference between hazard and risk
  • Understand the principles of risk assessment
  • Appreciate the common hazards associated with each discipline
  • Know the specific procedures for safety

Step-by-step process

  1. Click on a booking link above
  2. Log in using your Officials’ licence number and password
  3. Select ‘Book Now’
  4. Select the trolley symbol and complete the booking process
  5. A link to the module will be sent in email. Alternatively go to ‘online courses > My Learning > Access module

Uploading a licence picture

  1. Log in to MyAthletics Portal
  2. Select ‘jump to profile’
  3. Select ‘edit’ within Personal Details box
  4. Select 'upload a new picture'
  5. Choose file
  6. Upload your picture: this picture should be passport style
