2018 got off to a great start with our Indoor Combined Events and Race Walking Championships at Sheffield, reports are below, and there is plenty more championships action to come, see below for specific information on a few of these!

You can read below about work we have to support volunteers including our Team Spirit volunteers' conference and a funding opportunity to get more young people volunteering that is on the way. Plus there is plenty more news besides - 2018 is well and truly up and running!

Record falls as first title of 2018 is decided Record falls as first title of 2018 is decided

Holly Mills (Club: Andover AC, Coach: James Coney) made a record breaking return to combined events when she took the England Athletics U20 Indoor Pentathlon title. Both Holly and Jade O'Dowda (Club: Oxford City AC, Coach: Marcia Marriott) eclipsed the former championship record as the Senior and U20 men also got their championships underway.

After the first day of England Athletics' championships in 2018 saw a record breaking, start athletes returned to Sheffield's EIS for the second day of the indoor combined events championships, as well as the indoor race walking titles being decided and the British Milers' Club hosting races. There was plenty of action to enjoy.

There’s less than a month to go until our very first conference dedicated entirely to helping people make the most from volunteering in our fantastic sport.  Being held in Birmingham on 3rd February, the Team Spirit conference, funded by our partners Spirit of 2012, will bring together volunteers from right across the sport to grow, learn, share and celebrate with one another.

England Athletics are pleased to announce that following last year’s successful introduction of a 5k National Championship on the road, we will once again be working with the race organisors of the Mid-Cheshire 5k Series in staging the 2018 Championship.

Would you like to increase the number of younger people supporting you through volunteering at your club and would like some help to make that happen?  Following a successful pilot of the Game Changers Young Volunteer Programme, applications will be opening on the 15th January 2018 to support more clubs and groups to involve young people.
