We would like to remind all clubs about our AGM on Saturday 14 October which includes the election for one of the club representative positions on the England Athletics Board, details of the AGM and Board election are available here.

We look forward to the Autumn Road Relays this weekend, and also highlight performance and competition road running opportunities for coaches and athletes. We report on a number of Regional Volunteer Award evenings and remind you that there's still time to book tickets for our National Hall of Fame and Volunteer Awards evening.

We have a range of opportunities for coaches coming up for speed, endurance, jumps, throws and youth development that you can also book on to including Regional Coach & Athlete Workshop. Our consultation events continue with those in the North West (Wed 11 October), Yorkshire (Mon 16 October), London (Mon 6 November) and North East (Mon 20 November).

The Annual General Meeting of England Athletics Limited (Company) will be held at the Ricoh Arena, Judds Lane, Longford, Coventry, CV6 6AQ on Saturday 14th October 2017 at 11:00. The Agenda includes an item to elect a member representative non-executive director. Information on the candidates is available.

Sutton Park set for Saturday's ERRA Road Relays Sutton Park set for Saturday's ERRA Road Relays

The ERRA Autumn road relays take place on Saturday 7 October at Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. These will be the first to incorporate the additional UK Senior Championship in both
the men's and women's events. England Athletics will be covering the event live on social media.

Be ready for 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon Club & Championship entries Be ready for 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon Club & Championship entries

Clubs affiliated with England Athletics will be able to apply for club entries into the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon. Club entries will open towards the end of October. The number of entries given to each club is based on how many first claim registered members over the age of 18 the club has. Please ensure yor registration are up to date to be ready to apply for you club places. Championship entries also open for eligible athletes towards the end of November. It is now possible to register your interest in a Championship entry so you can be notified when entries open.

Athletics coaches selected for Women into High Performance programme Athletics coaches selected for Women into High Performance programme

After a record number of applications for UK Coaching’s Women into High Performance (WiHP) programme, we’re pleased to announce that three of the places have been allocated to athletics coaches.  Helen Clitheroe (Endurance), Louise Capicutto (Throws) and Maxine Robbins (Pole Vault) are three of the 18 coaches from across 10 sports who made the final cut.

England Athletics have a new marathon programme that will support coaches and athletes with the aim of significantly raising the depth of performance at this event. We know that we can only do this in partnership with the coaches, clubs and athletes. This winter activities will include two performance group weekends in the Forest of Dean as well as a series of evenings focussed on marathon preparation.

Government confirms Birmingham bid for 2022 Commonwealth Games Government confirms Birmingham bid for 2022 Commonwealth Games

Birmingham is to be the UK’s official candidate city for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Culture Secretary Karen Bradley has announced.  The government, Birmingham 2022 bid team and Commonwealth Games England are finalising the formal bid submission. Commonwealth Games England will submit the bid to the Commonwealth Games Federation shortly.

On Sunday 22nd October the AAA Tom Pink Relays are taking place at Lee Valley Athletics Centre and there is a fantastic opportunity to be able to volunteer at the event. This is a really great opportunity for anyone looking to find out more about officiating or gain their experiences for their officials' licence.

Bud Baldaro recently turned 70, and the return of the Bud's Run 5K and Bud's Bash therefore have taken on added significance as he once again works with the athletics and running community to raise funds for Parkinson's UK. As well as supporting coaches as part of England Athletics’ coach development programmes, Bud has coached many international athletes and been the voice of the commentary at athletics events including the English National cross country and road relays. He was last year induced into the England Athletics Hall of Fame in recognition of his contribution to the sport.

The England Athletics regional volunteer awards evenings are held to recognise and celebrate the work of our volunteers. Volunteers were nominated by their peers and the England Athletics regional councils then made the decisions of who would win.  Last week, awards were presented in the East Midlands, West Midlands, North East, North West and Yorkshire & Humberside. England Athletics 10k and 10 mile Championships

With the Autumn road racing season already well underway the England Athletics 10k and 10 mile Championships are just weeks away. There are still opportunities for registered club runners looking to take part these events.

First on the calendar is the ever popular Simplyhealth Great South Run which takes place on Sunday 22nd October in Portsmouth over the less-run distance of 10 miles. From Portsmouth to Leeds and the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash which incorporates the England Athletics 10k Championships. Taking place on Sunday 5th November this event always attracts a strong field and produces quick times and personal bests.
