Welcome to the latest ebulletin from England Athletics. We have important information and reminders for the start of the new affiliation year included in the news this week.

There is plenty to look forward to in the coming days, including this weekend's ERRA 12 and 6 stage road relays, and throughout the 2017-18 year.

England Athletics would like to update you on its planned delivery from April 2017. This work is directly aligned with the Strategic Plan for the period which was announced last year, and will be supported by the Sport England funding for the sport which was announced in February.

Athletes - ensure your club membership fees are up to date Athletes - ensure your club membership fees are up to date

The new affiliation year began on 1 April. While clubs have until 30 June to re-register athletes who were previously registered, athletes ensuring that their club memebrship fees are up to date will help make this process more straighforward for their clubs.

Tuesday 4 April marks a year to go until the Commonwealth Games start on the Gold Coast. We caught up with Niamh Emerson, the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games high jump champion and 400m hurdles bronze medallist, to find out more about what the games in Samoa meant to her.

Nominations are invited for a Representative of Clubs Affiliated in England, to be appointed to the UK Members Council, the custodians of the long-term interests of athletics in the UK.

A day of broadening horizons and recognising contributions at Officials' Conference A day of broadening horizons and recognising contributions at Officials' Conference

The 14th annual British Athletics Officials' Conference took place on Sunday with over 250 technical officials from across the UK attending the event. The day was focussed around the theme of ‘Broaden Your Horizons’, encouraging officials to think outside of their discipline. As well as 18 different workshops being held, with guest speakers Robbie Grabarz, Katharine Merry and Chris Cohen, a number of awards were made to officials.

England Athletics and a Mental Health Ambassador from Orpington Road Runners, Cat Woods, were invited to celebrate and share the success of the Mental Health Ambassador programme at the Mental Health Charter for Sport and Recreation 2nd anniversary event.  A year since its launch, there are now over 290 ambassadors in 210 different England Athletics clubs and RunTogether groups!

England Athletics are sending a team to compete in the Czech town of Podebrady in an EAA Permit Walks Meeting, including a match against Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden and the host nation.

The lists of Higher Competition Athletes for 2017 are now available. Eligibility to compete as a higher competition athlete is detailed in the UKA Rules for Competition including in Rule 21 S 3 (4).

The ERRA National 12 and 6 stage road relays take place this weekend at Sutton Coldfield. We'll be there to follow all the action. Keep an eye on our website and social media feeds on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram this Saturday for updates.

We want to support our clubs to make volunteering in our sport the best experience it can possibly be.

As part of this we’re going to be providing additional help to clubs who would like to recruit a volunteer co-ordinator, supporting people in this role by providing them with dedicated resources, training and ongoing support.

    English Cross Country Association Annual Open Meeting
English Cross Country Association Annual Open Meeting

The 10th Annual English Cross Country Association Open meeting will be held on Saturday 20th May at the Smart Aston Court Hotel, Midland Road, Derby DE1 2SL (near Derby Railway Station).

All Clubs affiliated to England Athletics for cross country running are eligible to attend and vote.

The meeting will start at 12 noon.

100 Days To Go

Organisers marked the 100 days to go milestone with the release of a unique aerial image of the World Para Athletics Championships London 2017 logo in the shadow of the London Stadium.

The creative, taken on what will be the official warm up track for the Championships, not only celebrates 100 days to go but also the events that will be on show from 14-23 July.
