We had a fantastic weekend of national championships and 2017 looks set to have a lot more great action on the way. Competitions this year include area championships and we have details of many of these below. We are still looking for clubs who want to become an Inspiration Club as part of our work around the 2017 IAAF and IPC World Championships but the deadline is coming up fast - click here for details. Following the launch of England Athletics new strategic plan in late 2016 after a period of consultation with our member clubs, we now approach our next strategy period and we would therefore like to update you on our planning for our future activities.

All-time lists, championship records and personal bests were order of the day at the England Athletics Open U20, U17 and U15 indoor championships in Sheffield.

Fantastic competition, form book wins and - as is always the case at this event - form book upsets all featured on day one of the England Athletics Open Under 20, 17 and 15 indoor champs in Sheffield.

The Event Group Coach programme is designed to provide licensed Coaches with a greater understanding and awareness of the issues involved with coaching athletes who are at the Event Group Development stage. We have a number of 'Integration Days' coming up soon which those wanting to complete this qualification can now book on to.

The ECCA National Cross Country Championships saw athletes taking on a gruelling course at Wollaton Park with some fantastic tussles throughout the day of racing in Nottingham. We report on the action, with pictures and video of the races.

An increasing number of clubs are making use of the online payment functionality England Athletics offers through the club portal to enable easier payment of club subscription fees and /or payment of athlete registrations with England Athletics. This and other new functionality was launched last year to help enable clubs to manage their membership and administration more effectively.

Area Championships are an important part of the athletics calendar. We have details of many of the area events happening in 2017 and would encourage athletes to be aware of the upcoming fixtures.

U18 and U20 England teams ready to tackle the Welsh U18 and U20 England teams ready to tackle the Welsh

Following a very successful indoor track and field Age Group championships last weekend, we are pleased to announce the England Athletics team set to take on Wales in Cardiff on Sunday at the Welsh International.  This year there will be both an Under 18 team and and Under 20 team, to acknowledge this Summer's Commonwealth Youth Games age group.

We are pleased to announce the England team who will compete in the Great Ireland Run 10k on Sunday 9th April. As well as being the Athletics Ireland Men's National 10k Championships, this year will also be an England versus Ireland team competition.

From 27 February through to 5 March B-eat (the UK's eating disorder charity) is working to raise awareness of these serious mental illnesses.

The theme this year focuses on the vital role GPs play in getting people into treatment as quickly as possible.
