If you volunteer in any capacity at all within our sport, this event is not one to miss! The event will take place on Saturday 3rd February at the University of Birmingham and is free to attend.
Over 98% of England Athletics' affiliated clubs offer Road Running - this includes Road Running only clubs and Track Field clubs. In addition to the benefits all affiliated clubs can access, England Athletics have introduced initiatives and programmes that offer specific support to Road Running Clubs. This autumn and winter England Athletics has launched a new series of event specific workshops which see coaches and their athletics coming together for training and development opportunities. These events have been well received by the coaches and athletes with more events planned for early 2018 that you can now book on to.
Paralympic and World champions Sophie Hahn and Kadeena Cox are among 18 para athletes announced for Team England's athletics squad for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. Both starred at this summer's World Para Athletics Championships in London; Hahn winning double gold in the T38 100m and 200m, while Cox sealed the T38 400m title along with winning two further medals. They will be competing at their first Commonwealth Games in the T38 100m.
Following high demand for December's webinar on this subject the Female Coaching Networkwill be delivering a second webinar on Wednesday 10 January 2017. This webinar aims to help sports professionals and volunteers, specifically coaches, working with athletes of all ages and abilities to detect possible eating problems at an early stage as well as looking at subjects such as how coaches can contribute to reducing the eating disorder risk and how coaches can support athletes who are currently experiencing eating problems.
Mind, the mental health charity is teaming up with R.E.D January to encourage people to Run Every Day throughout January to support their own mental wellbeing, while raising awareness and support for mental health. How far or fast people run, or walk is completely up to them, but by getting active for 31 consecutive days in January they can not only kick-start their own year, but also make a positive difference to the lives of others.
England Athletics have a series of upcoming Physical Preparation workshops scheduled from January to March 2018 which are designed as a progression for coaches / leaders that have attended England Athletics Movement Skills workshops or are experienced in the delivery of physical preparation training.
17 people attended the workshop, that took place at Gateshead and was organised through Gateshead Harriers and the Inspiration Programme.
England Athletics are pleased to announce the launch of the next round of Club Run and welcome applications from off track and road running clubs across the country. The closing date for this next round of applications is midnight 18th February.
