Team Spirit Champions bring bigger smiles to the faces of your volunteers

Before Christmas, we held pilot sessions for our brand-new Team Spirit Champions training. These free, fast-paced, interactive sessions will send you back to your club with plenty of ideas to bring bigger smiles to the faces of the people that make our sport happen: you, the volunteers! Here is a flavour of what our attendees had to say about it.

Inspired by the spirit of volunteering

We recently held our first Team Spirit Conference which was attended by almost 200 volunteers from across the sport. Among those who attended was Margaret Connarty, a regular parkrun runner and volunteer. Here she tells us about her experiences of the day.

Saturday 3rd February saw our very first conference for all volunteers in our sport, funded by Spirit of 2012, take place in the University of Birmingham's Great Hall. Volunteers from all areas of the Athletics and Running community came together to grow, learn, share and celebrate with one another at our first Team Spirit Conference.

Get more people involved in officiating in your club or local area! Support resources available

Would your club or group really benefit from involving more officials, or do you know a club in your area that would? Are you unsure where to start to get more people involved? If so putting on an Officials Taster Session, could be a great way of raising awareness of the opportunities available and highlight what a positive experience officiating is! You can also access free resources from Team Personal Best to help with this or other types of activity.

Officials Taster Session in action

Burton Athletics Club recently hosted an Officials Taster Session at the club to encourage more parents to get involved. They used the free resources available on our website from Team Personal Best to help them with the day, and following the taster session, hosted a Level 1 Field Course at the club to allow those interested to continue their officiating journey.
