The British Athletics Supporters' Club (BASC) assists Coaches and Officials with bursaries throughout the year. BASC will award sums of up to £250 to successful applicants who wish to pursue higher standards. This might possibly, but not exclusively, involve attending a qualification course run by UK Athletics, England Athletics or similar organisations.

On the 4th April 2018 the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games will be getting underway on Australia's Gold Coast. In October, Team England announced which athletes had been selected to take the 75 allocated places on the athletics squad, and those athletes will now be preparing for what is considered the competition pinnacle for England representative teams. We will be catching up with various members of the squad as they set their sights on next year's event in Queensland.
England Athletics' Club Run programme is a free initiative specifically aimed at supporting road running clubs. Participating clubs receive a free series of practical coaching sessions led by coaches linked to the England Athletics coach development programmes with experience in off track running. 2018 appllciations are now open.
England Athletics are launching a series of Road Shows for the club road running community. The Road Shows are open to club officers, coaches, leaders, Race Directors and club members and offer an opportunity to find out more about some of the new and existing initiatives that aim to support road running clubs, as well as an opportunity for you to share your ideas with us.

35 coaches attended the National Hurdles Conference at Aston University recently. The theme of the conference was 'Developing Optimal Mindset and Technique of a Hurdler.' Speakers included Mikkel Larsen, coach to Olympic medallist Sara Peterson, Istvan Tomhauser the Hungarian National Hurdles Coach, UK Hurdles coach Nick Dakin, Olympian Rhys Williams, and England Athletics Coach and Athlete Development Manager James Hillier.
This autumn and winter England Athletics has launched a new series of event specific workshops which see coaches and their athletics coming together for training and development opportunities. These events have been well received by the coaches and athletes with more events planned for early 2018 that you can now book on to.
Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December saw a very special guest visit Loughborough University for a set of Javelin Masterclass Events. Rio 2016 Olympic Gold Medallist flew over especially for the event and was able to showcase not only his phenomenal athletic skills, but also his ability to inspire a group of javelin throwers and coaches.
