Thanks to England Athletics and European Athletics, and specifically the on-site management and hosting of Swedish Athletics, Falun, Sweden was the venue for the European Hurdles and Jumps Convention last week. Femi Akinsanya, Jade Surman, Guy Spencer, Piotr Spas, Zac Kerin, James Hillier, John Shepherd and Graham Pilkington made up the England Athletics coach delegate team.

This was our 10th year of volunteer awards - that's 10 years of celebrating the outstanding contribution volunteers across England give to make our sport happen. The British Athletics Supporters' Club (BASC) assists Coaches and Officials with bursaries throughout the year. BASC will award sums of up to £250 to successful applicants who wish to pursue higher standards. This might possibly, but not exclusively, involve attending a qualification course run by UK Athletics, England Athletics or similar organisations.
Our congratulations to our 2017 National Volunteer Award winners who were presented and recognised at Hall of Fame and Volunteer Awards evening. Eight awards were made to people, clubs and organisations who have given so much time and energy to the sport. The categories were, Coach, Official, Club, Volunteer, Young Volunteer, Innovation Project, Run Group of the Year, plus Services to Athletics.

The England Athletics regional volunteer awards evenings are held to recognise and celebrate the work of our volunteers, without whom the sport could not function. Volunteers were nominated by their peers and the England Athletics regional councils then made the decisions of who would win. Winners are put forward to the National awards which are presented at our Hall of Fame gala evening on 14th October.
This year's England Athletics Hall of Fame and National Volunteer Awards night takes place on Saturday 14th October at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. It's your chance to meet our outstanding volunteers, plus top athletes who have previously been inducted into the England Athletics Hall of Fame as well as athletes and nominees who have been put forward for induction in 2017.
After a record number of applications for UK Coaching's Women into High Performance (WiHP) programme, we're pleased to announce that three of the places have been allocated to athletics coaches. Helen Clitheroe (Endurance), Louise Capicutto (Throws) and Maxine Robbins (Pole Vault) are three of the 18 coaches from across 10 sports who made the final cut.
UK Athletics will be hosting a unique exhibition in October in celebration of Black History Month. Led by former athlete and now UK Athletics' Vice President Donna Fraser, the black and white photographic exhibition recognises the contribution of past and present Black and Asian athletics coaches, and focuses on the long-term goal of continuing to inspire the next generation to get into athletics for years to come.
