National Cross-Country School Finals Return to Prestwold Hall for 2018

Following a highly successful switch to Prestwold Hall near Loughborough in 2017, the National Cross-Country Finals for school years 5, 6, and 7 will return to the same venue on Saturday March 24th2018. England Athletics will be supporting the event again, and with the action from the course being live-streamed on a 12 metre screen, and live across the world, it certainly has a big occasion feel about it.

AAA applications for 2018 grants now open

The Amateur Athletic Association (AAA) has a fund which is able to support English Athletes under the age of 23 who are in full time education, active in athletics and not receiving other funding. Applications are welcomed, and note the deadline is 10th February 2018.

Ron Pickering Memorial Fund grant application deadline: 19 November

A reminder that the deadline apply for grants from Ron Pickering Memorial Fund is Sunday 19 November 2017. Grants are available to all UK athletes between the ages of 15 and 23, including disability event athletes. Grants to athletes over 23 may be made in exceptional circumstances. An athlete can apply directly using the online application form only.

Fun for athletes, officials and parents at the Tom Pink Relays

In the 10th year of the Tom Pink Relays event, the atmosphere at Lee valley recently buzzed with young athlete teams "Chasing Kelly", "Chasing Steve", and "Keeping Up with Paula" on the track. Meanwhile, others competed in events such as Caber Toss and Highland Steps, as well as more traditional Sportshall events like Standing Long Jump and Shot Put. The Tom Pink Relays also provided great opportunities for new volunteers to give officiating a try.

Perfecting movement - better than volume of movement

Does your club have leaders or coaches dedicated to improving their athlete's performance, or looking for fresh ideas for their coaching sessions at your club? England Athletics have a series of movement skills workshops this winter aimed at assisting athletics and running coaches / leaders.

Sportshall season starts for Essex Athletics Network

Nearly 100 young athletes competed at the first round of the Essex Athletics Networks Sportshall competition, with 25 volunteers helping make the event such a success. The event (round 1 of 3), which is ideal winter indoor training for young athletes, saw representatives from Essex clubs and schools compete in track sprint events, as well as jumps and throws.

Sutton Park set for Saturday's ERRA Road Relays

The ERRA Autumn road relays take place on Saturday 7 October at Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. These will be the first to incorporate the additional UK Senior Championship in both the men's and women's events. England Athletics will be covering the event live on social media.
