Future Perfect!

The end of this month sees the best young athletes in the country go head to head in the England Athletics indoor Under 20, Under 17 and Under 15 Championships on 24 to 25 February. It's a great event that not only provides two days of incredible head to head action, but more importantly it also provides the perfect opportunity to look into the future and see just how strong athletics will be for many years to come.

Athletics Weekly's latest weekly round-up

While the US Championships dominated internationally and the British and BUCS championships were on domestically, other events of note included the Irish, Australian, German and French, Japanese, Czech, Dutch, Polish and Swiss championships! On the road, reports from Half Marathons: Hendy Tunbridge Wells, Kinross to Lossiemouth, Wokingham, and Llanelli.

Age Group Masters 10k Qualifiers announced

Following the popular Chichester Priory 10k which took place over the weekend England Athletics are pleased to announce the first round of Age Group Masters qualifiers earning themselves an England masters representative vest later in the year.

Lugano and Dudince Walks teams selections announced

We are pleased to announce the race walk teams for the Lugano Trophy 15th Memorial Mario Albisetti 20km in Switzerland and for the 37th edition Dudinska 50km in Slovakia. England Athletics have sent teams to these events for several years now and many athletes have had very successful races.

Starting gun fires for Road Running Roadshows

This week saw the first two of five England Athletics Road Running Roadshows take place in London and Peterborough. The events, designed for members of road running clubs, road running coaches and leaders, event organisers and anyone else involved with off-track running, saw members of England Athletics staff outline the various programmes and initiatives that England Athletics delivers for the off-track community.

Athletics Weekly's latest weekly round-up

The major event over the weekend was the IAAF World tour in Boston. Indoor action of note from Scotland, Belgium, France, Sweden, and USA); on the road - news from the Barcelona Half-Marathon, and XC reports from the Belgian CrossCup (featuring an England Team), Kenyan Championships, Italian San Vittore Olona plus various XC leagues across England. The antipodean summer has ultra and TF reports from New Zealand.

Road Running Road Shows begin soon

England Athletics' series of Road Shows for the club road running community begin their tour around the country this coming week. The Road Shows are open to club officers, coaches, leaders and club members and offer an opportunity to find out more about some of the new and existing initiatives that aim to support road running clubs.

Athletes and coaches benefit from marathon weekend

The second Performance Group Athlete and Coach Marathon Weekend held as part of the development programme for the event has been held. As well as training sessions in the Forest of Dean the weekend included talks from physiologist Prof Andy Jones covering his work on the Breaking2 project and with elite athletes such as Paula Radcliffe, London Marathon winner 2:09 marathoner Mike Gratton, and performance and clinical dietician Renee McGregor.
