Catering for all impairments, these days provide a great introduction in to Para-Athletics for anyone wanting to try the sport for the first time or a fun day of athletics for those already participating. Hosting a Volunteer or Official's Taster Session at your club could be a great way of encouraging more people to volunteer as well as raising awareness of how people in the community can get involved in volunteering opportunities within your club. And we have a great variety of free resources to help make your event a success.
Would your club or group really benefit from involving more officials, or do you know a club in your area that would? Are you unsure where to start to get more people involved? If so putting on an Officials Taster Session, could be a great way of raising awareness of the opportunities available and highlight what a positive experience officiating is! You can also access free resources from Team Personal Best to help with this or other types of activity.
Burton Athletics Club recently hosted an Officials Taster Session at the club to encourage more parents to get involved. They used the free resources available on our website from Team Personal Best to help them with the day, and following the taster session, hosted a Level 1 Field Course at the club to allow those interested to continue their officiating journey.
The London 2017 World Para Athletics and IAAF World Championships may be over but the Inspiration Programme continues and there are still lots of ways for your club or school to get involved and make the most of the enthusiasm for the sport that has been generated.
Bicester Athletics Club hosted an 'end of summer season fun competition' at the club and used it as an opportunity to deliver a volunteer recruitment session to try and engage more parents within the club. Athletes from Cauis House Youth Club and Belgrave Harriers inthe Battersea community have been treated to a surprise visit from some of the USA Track and Field Team, who are in London to compete in the IAAF World Championships.
