Two storming finishes saw England's relay athletes and Erin McBride both pip their Australian rivals to the line in the mixed 4x400m relay and 200m respectively - as it was another eventful evening for England at Nitro Athletics in Melbourne.
The much-anticipated Nitro Athletics is finally here, with the first of three events taking place this Saturday in Australia.The new series sees an England team take on Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan, as well as a team spearheaded by Usain Bolt, in a brand new format. Disciplines are grouped into teamwork, power, technical and endurance events, with each team consisting of 12 men and 12 women, who combine to score points that count towards the team score.
They say that all the best sports teams contain just the right blend of youth and experience, and that's something that England have noted as they prepare for the inaugural Nitro Athletics series which starts this Saturday 4th February in Melbourne, Australia.
An Australian team full of young guns and rising stars are relishing the opportunity to take on Usain Bolt and his international band of super stars at the inaugural Nitro Athletics Melbourne. This three day event will be taking place next month in Australia with teams from England Athletics, Australia, Japan, China, New Zealand, and Bolt's All Stars competing against each other.

Athletics needs innovative new concepts to attract new fans to the sport and IAAF President Sebastian Coe believes the Australian organisers of the new Nitro Athletics series may have a hit. England Athletics will be taking a team to competeagainst the likes of Usain Bolt's Bolt All-Stars, Australia, China, Japan and New Zealand in the new look athletics format in three meetings from 4-11 February.
