Following a highly successful switch to Prestwold Hall near Loughborough in 2017, the National Cross-Country Finals for school years 5, 6, and 7 will return to the same venue on Saturday March 24th2018. England Athletics will be supporting the event again, and with the action from the course being live-streamed on a 12 metre screen, and live across the world, it certainly has a big occasion feel about it.
Hereford and Worcester Schools' Athletics Assocation are pleased to announce their event dates for 2018.
Nearly 100 young athletes competed at the first round of the Essex Athletics Networks Sportshall competition, with 25 volunteers helping make the event such a success. The event (round 1 of 3), which is ideal winter indoor training for young athletes, saw representatives from Essex clubs and schools compete in track sprint events, as well as jumps and throws.

The combined eventers and race walkers headed to Boston, Lincolnshire, to contest their English Schools' Athletic Association titles. There were some excellent performances and great competition being seen across the weekend and throughout the age groups.
Athletes between the ages of 15 and 23 can apply for grants from Ron Pickering Memorial Fund. The deadline for applications is Sunday 19 November 2017.Grants to athletes over 23 may be made in exceptional circumstances.
This year the English Schools' AA Combined Event Championships and the Race Walking Championships will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September at the Princess Royal Arena in Boston, Lincolnshire.
Those involved in coaching young athletes have to consider a range of aspects relating to the their athletes and their development. Our Coaching and Athlete Development Manager (Coaching Resources Youth Development), Scott Grace has identified some brief videos that can serve as useful information or reminders for coaches, and that coaches may also benefit from sharing with the parents of young athletes to help them understand how they can play a positive role in their child's involvement in athletics and running.
The Irish Schools' AA hosted a high class SIAB (Schools International Athletics Board) Track and Field international in Dublin, showcasing top British talent from across the home countries in the U17 age group. In gorgeous conditions, albeit very windy, the English Schools' team were victorious in both the boys' and girls' team competitions, with outstanding performances by athletes across all four teams.
