UK Athletics, England Athletics and our colleagues at the Home Country Athletics Federations welcome the news that the Sports Minister Tracey Crouch has secured ministerial support to change the law on positions of trust to include sports coaches.Our organisations have supported the NSPCC campaign for this change in the law, with the UK Athletics welfare team continually lobbying over a number of years.
Thanks to England Athletics and European Athletics, and specifically the on-site management and hosting of Swedish Athletics, Falun, Sweden was the venue for the European Hurdles and Jumps Convention last week. Our conference will be an interactive day, with opportunity to hear from leading experts, England Athletics staff and volunteers covering topics from how to involve more volunteers, how to develop and progress within your role, through to how to being more resilient or making change happen locally.

England Athletics are pleased to announce that they will be holding their second National Jumps workshop for coaches. The event will cover long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault workshops - including theory and practical sessions and video analysis.
It is a requirement that coaches, officials and volunteers in certain roles in athletics hold a current DBS check through UKA. We explain the importance of these checks and how systems have been put in place to help getting your DBS check done or updated as straight forward as possible.

We would encourage all athletes and coaches to read the UKA statement regarding the use of supplements. This statement sets out UKA's supplements position and provides clear advice to athletes, and those who support them, on how to reduce the real risk of inadvertent doping posed by supplement use.
