Almost a year ago, Bexley Mencap were lucky enough to be the first recipients of the good deeds carried out by the local GoodGym initiative. GoodGym are a Bexley group who combine keeping fit with performing handy tasks and jobs - running to and from their tasks. Last month Bexley Mencap RunTogether group worked alongside Bexley GoodGym for a session tidying up one of the local alleyways!
It's a busy weekend of action coming up - as well as the the Saucony National Cross Country championships at Parliament Hill, there's the England Age Group indoor championships in Sheffield and Indoor Grand Prix in Glasgow. This year's cross country event at Parliament Hill is in fact the 16th time that a Championship has been held at the iconic venue since the first in 1950. The traditional uphill start is planned again.
St Helens Sutton AC's RunTogether group Sutton Beginners took part in one of this year's 140+ #RunAndTalk organised runs. And they were lucky enough to be joined by Jenny Meadows during one of their weekly RunTogether group sessions.
Many of our England Athletics regstered athletes, coaches and RunTogether members take part in their local parkrun. One local Mencap RunTogether group has encouraged some of its members to take up the parkrun challenge. Matt Lett recently completed his 50th parkrun and has inspired some of his group to also take up the challenge!
Following the popular Chichester Priory 10k which took place over the weekend England Athletics are pleased to announce the first round of Age Group Masters qualifiers earning themselves an England masters representative vest later in the year.
We are pleased to announce the race walk teams for the Lugano Trophy 15th Memorial Mario Albisetti 20km in Switzerland and for the 37th edition Dudinska 50km in Slovakia. England Athletics have sent teams to these events for several years now and many athletes have had very successful races.
This week saw the first two of five England Athletics Road Running Roadshows take place in London and Peterborough. The events, designed for members of road running clubs, road running coaches and leaders, event organisers and anyone else involved with off-track running, saw members of England Athletics staff outline the various programmes and initiatives that England Athletics delivers for the off-track community.

England fielded Teams in the Easykit Cross Cup Competition in Rotselaar, Belgium. Against strong opposition the English Athletes gained form and experience with the Junior Women the most successful.
The second Performance Group Athlete and Coach Marathon Weekend held as part of the development programme for the event has been held. As well as training sessions in the Forest of Dean the weekend included talks from physiologist Prof Andy Jones covering his work on the Breaking2 project and with elite athletes such as Paula Radcliffe, London Marathon winner 2:09 marathoner Mike Gratton, and performance and clinical dietician Renee McGregor.
