Northern Athletics Officials' Association
The Northern Athletics Officials’ Association is about help, friendship and trying to improve life for officials of all levels and disciplines. Membership of the Association is open to any athletics official supporting athletics in the North of England.
The aims of the Association are to:
- Act at all times in the best interests of the members.
- Encourage a high standard of officiating.
- Raise the status of officials.
- Represent the views of members on issues affecting officials.
- Improve the standards of facilities provided for officials.
- Assist in the training of officials.
Annual subscription from an individual is £10, joint membership (two members at one address): £15 per year.. For their subscription members of the Association can attend the Annual Conference which is held at Cleckheaton in October and Members will also get issued with the latest UKA Rule Book (published in April 2016 and valid for two years) on receipt of membership payment. The next update of the IAAF Rule Book is scheduled for November 2017. Should members require a copy it can be purchased via the NAOA; all orders and payments (£5) should be sent to Andy Parker (see contacts page) by no later than 31st August 2017.
The Annual Conference on 9th October 2016 was held at the Holiday Inn Brighouse-Bradford where the guest speaker was Jim Alder. Jim spoke of competing in 10,000m, Marathon and multi Marathon events at Regional (NE/ NoE), National (Scotland) and International (GB & NI) level, including two Olympic Games, and of some of the competitors he met along the way. The conference also featured workshops to help members develop as technical officials.
The 2017 conference will again be held at the Holiday Inn Brighouse-Bradford on 1st October 2017 and the guest speaker will be Peter Warden. As always, the aim of the conference will be to educate and entertain after a busy summer season which will include the Para Athletic World Championships and IAAF World Championships in London.
