Video analysis session extends coaches' knowledge

18 coaches recently attended a video analysis session  that took place in Bury St Edmunds.

The session was organised by the Suffolk Essex Athletics Network and was also attended by coaches on the Local and National Coach Development Programmes in Cambridgeshire and Essex.

CasioClaire Wise from Casio delivered an informative practical session that enabled coaches to gain hands-on experience of the high-speed cameras and discover the features available, such as filming in slow-motion. several of the coaches who already owned Casio logocameras benefitted by learning how to get the most out of their equipment.

James Cudmore, CCSO for the area, then delivered a demonstration of Quintic video analysis software and provided an explanation of the tools available. Quintic logo Coaches were able to see different examples of how athletics footage could be analysed and make their own assessment of whether this would be a tool that would aid their coaching.

Event organiser Tania Spurling commented: "The workshop provided a great opportunity for coaches from across the network to come together and extend knowledge of both the technology available and the possible application & benefits to coaching. The day proved to be a great success with coaches from across 10 local clubs in attendance and positive feedback from coaches following the workshop"
