Tesco Bags of Help - community groups invited to apply for funding

Community groups across the UK are being invited to apply for Tesco Bags of Help funding to help fund projects that benefit their local community such as organising a community activity such as fun runs or for the purchase of equipment, kit or promotion materials.

Groups are also invited to apply for the One Stop stores programme - Carriers for Causes - who provide grants of up to £2,000 for local community projects that are based within two miles of a One Stop store.

The schemes, both of which are administered by community charity Groundwork, funds the development of and activity in outdoor spaces, building stronger communities by improving green space, as well as providing grants to purchase of items such as sports kits or equipment.

Recent examples of Athetics Clubs being supported  include:

  • Herts Phoenix Athletic Club who wanted to buy equipment to enable Herts Phoenix AC to continue to coach youngsters from age 11 upwards to develop their athletics skills in a safe environment.
  • Team North Cumbria Athletics Team used funds to support children across Cumbria discover their dreams which will help towards the progression of athletes who have been selected to represent Team North Cumbria Athletics Team.
