Successful end of year for Northants Network
To celebrate 2012 Northamptonshire Athletics Network are staging a 5k race series which if successful could become a permanent fixture in the County's Race calender and funds raised can be used to help sustain the Network after 2013. Succesful meetings have been held with various Borough councils and with their support plus engagement with the County Sports Partnership and Run England the network looks forward to hosting a great series.
Another project which has gone well was the launch of a Northants under 11 indoor sportshall league. Attendances have been superb and the competition has been enjoyed by all. It has also been a great opportunity to get parents help with officiating and assisting with the individual events to the extent that we now have some more volunteers to go on coaching and officials courses.
The weekend of 26th/27th November saw almost 100 coaches and athletes benefit from their local coach development programme. On the Saturday an endurance development session was held at West Glebe Park in Corby and feedback from all was very positive. The network have planned to host other endurance days around the County over the winter months.
Sunday saw the monthly visit to Loughborough's hipac where lead coaches for pole vault, hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot, javelin, sprints and middle distance were available.
Other events confirmed within the County are:
- January 11th 2012 Throws Q&A session with Jim Edwards at Corby 7-9pm
- March 7th 2012 Strength/Mental toughness workshop with Leonie Lightfoot at Northampton
- March 14th 2012 S&C with advanced Plyometrics with Jared Deacon at Corby 7-9pm
