Safety First in Manchester’s Athletics Clubs

Manchester MAN group550

As a part of raising clubs' standards and demonstrating best practice, Manchester’s Athletics Clubs requested minimum standard for deployment courses to ensure they are providing all athletes with a safe, consistent and positive environment to train, compete and grow in.

On Wednesday 15th June, club coaches started part one of this and attended an Emergency First Aid course. Eighteen keen attendees from eight of the 10 network clubs were tutored by experienced First Aid Trainer and Assessor Ann Udall.

Feedback on the course was fantastic, and big thanks go to the tutors for making the course fun and key facts memorable.McCain Athletics Network logo

The coaches, although they never hope to, are best prepared to provide emergency first aid when required.

The next steps are to ensure coaches have access to Safeguarding & Child Protection, coaching disabled athletes and positive behaviour management.
