Road Running Road Shows this summer

Road Running Road Shows this summer

England Athletics are hosting just two more free Road Running Roadshows - on the 9th and 10th July.  So if you are a club officer, road running coach or leader, interested club member, or anyone else involved with off-track running - and want an opportunity to find out more about some of the new and existing initiatives that aim to support road running clubs, come and join us!

Members of England Athletics staff will outline the various programmes and initiatives that England Athletics delivers for the off-track community.  There will be lots of information on our initiatives including Club Run, Masters Age Group Opportunities and Event Organisers’ Workshops, as well as an opportunity for you to share your ideas with us.  The sessions are from 6.30pm to 9pm.

  • 9 July: at Holiday Inn Gatwick, Worth, Crawley, RH10 4SS (CANCELLED DUE TO LOW NUMBERS)
  • 10 July: at Holiday Inn, Oxford, OX2 8JD

There's also the opportunity to hear how some of our road running internationals have made the transition from club runner to international and how they manage training and competition schedules alongside the demands of work, study and family commitments.  England Road Running International athlete and our 10k Champion Ashley Gibson will be at the Crawley event, and European Cross-Country medallist Naomi Taschimowitz at Oxford.

Ashley Gibson (Club: Tonbridge AC, Coach: Bill Foster)

10km best of 33:10

As the winner of the 2017 England 10k Championships Ashley went on to represent England on the roads at the Parelloop 10k in Brunssum, Netherlands earlier this year. Ashley has a strong track and cross-country pedigree and is graduate of Loughborough University, having also spent some time across the Atlantic at the University of New Mexico. She combines her training with a demanding job as a secondary teacher of Geography and PE.

Naomi Taschimowitz (Club: Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, Coach: Charlotte Fisher)

Naomi enjoys testing herself on all terrains and represented England on all three surfaces, road, cross-country and track in the last year. She has also represented Great Britain at cross-country at both European and World level and was the U23 silver medallist at the 2011 European Cross-Country Championships. Naomi juggles training and competing with a busy career as an economist at the Treasury.
