Our Hall of Fame and Volunteer Awards evening is taking place this weekend
This year’s England Athletics Hall of Fame and National Volunteer Awards night takes place on Saturday 14th October at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
It's your chance to meet our outstanding volunteers, plus top athletes who have previously been inducted into the England Athletics Hall of Fame as well as athletes and nominees who have been put forward for induction in 2017.
The evening includes the presentation of our National Volunteer Awards which will see the winners of the Coach of the Year, Official of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Club of the Year, Innovation Project of the Year, Run Together Group / Leader of the year and Services To Athletics awards announced.
Over the years Hall of Fame inductees have included the likes of Sally Gunnell, Kathy Cook, Jonathan Edwards, Steve Backley, David Hemery, Darren Campbell, Ron Hill, Mike Smith, Tessa Sanderson and Fatima Whitbread. Last year the inductees into our Hall of Fame included the likes of Kriss Akabusi, the winning 4 x 400m from the Tokyo World Championships in 1991, and coaches Bud Baldaro and Ron Roddan.
Once again a number of previous inductees will be returning to join us as well as other guests. Among those attending this year will be Olympic 4 x 100m champions Darren Campbell, Jason Gardener, Marlon Devonish, Mark Lewis-Francis, Olympic silver medallist and world champion Wendy Sly, world 5000m record breaker Dave Moorcroft, and more as well as members of the Commonwealth Youth Games.
