Free professional development for Yorkshire-based coaches

Free professional development for Yorkshire-based coaches

Researchers at Leeds Beckett University are offering Yorkshire-based coaches the opportunity to attend free workshops. The workshops will promote healthy athlete development and sustained engagement in sport with an additional focus on anti-doping.

In particular these workshops will cover strategies that:

  • Minimise your athletes’ willingness to engage in intentional doping activities.
  • Facilitate conversations with your athletes about topics such as medication use and supplement use to reduce the risk of inadvertent doping.
  • Promote high quality motivation and adaptive outcomes associated with performance and well-being.

Participation is open to coaches involved in coaching at any competitive level who:

  • Work with a squad of at least eight athletes aged 14+ years old
  • See the same group on a regular basis (i.e. at least once per week)
  • Coach within a 40-mile radius of Leeds

You will receive an Amazon voucher for your participation on completion of the project.  This project has received funding from the International Olympic Committee and is being undertaken in partnership with Curtin University and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Did you know that…?

  • Any athlete can be drug tested at any time.
  • Anti-doping rules apply to coaches working at all levels.
  • Rule violations are not only caused by the use of a banned substance.
