The Championships this year return to Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead on 24th February 2018; the Women were first to hold a National Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill in 1950, while the first of the Men’s Nationals was held there in 1957. However, the venue has now become the regular home of the Championships every 3 years and this will be the 16th time a Championships has been held at this iconic venue. Thousands of athletes and supporters now travel to London and make a weekend of it and book hotels in the locality.
2015 was the last time the event was held at Parliament Hill, and a record 5288 runners competed with a massive 2007 in the Senior Men’s race. All the races from Under 13s upwards were well supported and there is a good chance the records set in 2015 will be broken in 2018 - such is the popularity of the sport at present.
